About This Institutional Ownership Heatmap
Every quarter, institutional investment managers with over $100 million in assets under management are required
by the SEC to disclose their equity holdings via Form 13F. 13Foresight parses these filings for the
top 200 hedge funds by AUM, aggregates the data, and renders it as an interactive map.
Tile size is proportional to total institutional dollar exposure; tile color reflects the quarter-over-quarter
change in allocated capital.
The Money Flow Dynamics charts highlight the largest capital inflows and outflows between
consecutive quarters — a leading indicator of institutional conviction shifts before they become visible in
price. Data is refreshed each quarter after the 13F filing deadline, approximately 45–50 days after
quarter-end.
The current view reflects 2026 Q1 filings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 13F Market Heatmap?
▾
The 13F Market Heatmap aggregates the quarterly SEC 13F filings of the world's top 200 hedge funds into a single visual map. Tile size reflects total institutional AUM allocated to each stock; tile color shows the quarter-over-quarter change in capital allocation.
How often is the heatmap data updated?
▾
The heatmap is updated each quarter after the 13F filing deadline — approximately 45–50 days after each quarter ends. The current data reflects 2026 Q1 13F filings.
What do 'inflow' and 'outflow' mean?
▾
Inflow means hedge funds collectively increased their capital allocated to a stock vs. the prior quarter. Outflow means aggregate dollar exposure fell — from selling, trimming, or price decline on existing positions.
Which hedge funds are included?
▾
The top 200 hedge funds ranked by total 13F-reported AUM, sourced from SEC EDGAR. Use the AUM tier filter to focus on funds of a specific size: All Top 200, under $20B, under $5B, or under $1B.
How is this different from a stock market heatmap?
▾
A standard heatmap shows price performance. This one shows institutional conviction — where the largest hedge funds are legally required to disclose where they are actually allocating capital, based on SEC 13F filings rather than price movement.
